Nelson Petilla is a homegrown photographer from Samar. Born and raised in Calbayog City, he discovered his passion for photography six years ago while working with a conservation project in Samar Island. The amazing seascapes, forests, flora and fauna of the island fascinated and inspired him to pursue photography as a way to express himself and invite people to better appreciate the natural beauty that remains largely unexplored in Samar Island.

Nelson’s works are featured in two coffee table books about Catbalogan and Calbayog. He has also started publishing his photos with travel magazines, exhibits for ecotourism promotions and does short photo documentary engagements for development projects.
Currently one of the most sought-after photographers in Eastern Visayas, Nelson’s photos reflect his love for light and color, a genuine reverence for nature and an amazing ability to make his subjects come alive before his lens. (by Chi Redaja)
