altered landscape

altered-landscapea perceptible threat to the forest of samar, ’slash and burn’ farming practice.  cutting down and burning a million-worth of trees and other species in exchange for an uncertain income from farming rootcrops and what not…  this is evident when you pass through the road from buray to borongan.

this is just one of the causes of  loss of our forest cover which results to flooding, soil erosion, loss of habitats for wildlife species and a host of other environment problems.

made this image in an interior place called sitio bagong barrio.  the image exif /data showed that i took this photo in june 3 2003, using canon powershot g2, a point and shoot cam!  yes, one among my 200gb stock photos.

bagongbarrioweba 7am scene at bagong barrio.  an upstream ride via suribao river starting from the foot of maydolong bridge in eastern samar leads you to this idyllic place, a place to enjoy the intimate view of  the quiet rivers and lush forest trees.

mono-fallsMono falls.  this will make your visit to the place ‘worth it’.

calbayog-ctbook4

Finally i got hold of the coffeetable book! I was so excited for this is the second coffeetable book that featured my works. Thanks to the people who believed in my photography. ;-)

As i posted previously in my wordpress blog, this book is a documentation as well as a  showcase of history and heritage of Calbayog that will instill pride among generations of Calbayognons.

The book traces the beginnings of Calbayog’s history and explores its cultural, economic and political development as the premier city in Samar island and the center of the Diocese in Samar. It also showcase the beautiful natural tourist attractions that make it the Philippines’ only City of Waterfalls.
